To the editor,
I am writing to you about the accidents that have been occurring on county roads 46/47 for years. Recently I was one of the people to have an accident there, in fact you wrote about it in the paper around the week of Dec. 13. There had been five or six other accidents during that two week period.
Since then I also read that an 83 year old man was hit while walking on Goodwin Avenue. He went to Regions so he must have been seriously injured. I, too, was seriously injured and had to go to Regions and spend a week there. My recovery will take six months to a year. This trauma has affected every area of my life. It seems like every body in town knows someone who has been involved in an accident there. I would like to know who is responsible for that stretch of the road? Is it the city?? The county?
Well, whoever it is they must be aware of this problem. Why is no one doing anything about it? Stop lights and flashing yellow lights warning that cross traffic does not stop are some ideas. I think it's unconscionable that nothing is being done to try to prevent these accidents after so many keep happening. I urge everyone to use extreme caution when traveling on this road.
Editor’s note: Dakota County is responsible for County Road 46. In recent years, the county has addressed the area around Goodwin Avenue with flashing stop signs.
