• Police were called after someone reported they may have been targeted by a carjacking while parked in a lot at the Dollar Tree store. A woman inside a vehicle was startled to see a man trying to open the passenger’s door of her vehicle.

Police reviewed security footage of the incident, and watched as the man walked to a nearby vehicle, got into the passenger’s seat and was driven away. It looked to officers like the man simply tried getting into the wrong vehicle, realized his mistake and walked away.

• A Hastings resident reported Jan. 13 that there was a suspicious set of footprints leading up to a window near the front door of a residence along Amelia Avenue.

• An intoxicated Hastings man was taken to detox after he tried unsuccessfully to get into the home of his elderly mother. The man, who had a blood-alcohol-concentration of .256, was taken to detox. The call came in at 6:04 p.m. Jan. 13.
