Raiders fall to Eagles, 5-3

The Hastings girls hockey team slipped to 6-7 on the season with a 5-3 loss to Apple Valley on Tuesday.

The Hastings girls hockey team slipped to 6-7 on the season with a 5-3 loss to Apple Valley on Tuesday.

Hastings is playing at an annual tournament in Farmington this week.

The Raiders held a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission, and things looked good for the blue and gold.

Sami Claussen tied the game 1-1 with a goal at 13:38. She was assisted by Torri Holm.

Hannah Simons then added a late goal at 16:38 of the first to give the Raiders the 2-1 advantage. Claussen earned the assist.

Apple Valley then went on to score four of the next five goals to win going away.

The Eagles scored a goal in the second period, then added two goals just a minute apart in the third period, with the first coming at 8:30 and the second at 9:39.

Hastings countered with a goal at 13:53, scored by Natalie Simons, assisted by Claussen. That made the score 4-3.

Apple Valley sealed the victory with a goal at 15:39.

Hastings had 36 shots on goal in the game.

Brooke Weber played in goal for Hastings. She made 20 saves on 25 shots.
