Hastings got the looks it wanted in Friday night’s girls basketball game against Cretin-Derham Hall. Unfortunately for Hastings, though, the shots weren’t falling.
Hastings ended up shooting 19 percent from the field, losing the game, 53-38.
“We got a lot of good shots,” coach Mike Harp said. “We got a lot of shots we like – we just couldn’t knock them down. When you shoot 19 percent, you’re not giving yourself a good chance to win.”
Hastings trailed just 23-20 at the half, but C-DH pulled away to start the second half, going on a 14-2 run to put the game away.
“We could have beat them,” Harp said. “We certainly had the opportunity – we just didn’t shoot well and they took advantage of that.”
Kelsey Nelson led Hastings in scoring with 11.
Lauren Thomas had 8, Lexie Harp had 6, Jill Weinzettel had 3, Hanna Norman had 3, Jordan Marshall had 3, Nicole Hollar had 2 and Morgan Tjomsland had 2.
