Thomas H. Imdieke, age 70, of Hastings, died Nov. 23, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's and dementia.
Thomas H. Imdieke, age 70, of Hastings, died Nov. 23, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's and dementia.
Thomas was born March 29, 1941, in Belgrade, Minn., to Herman and Bertha (Fiedler) Imdieke. He was a 1959 graduate of Belgrade High School. Thomas married Barbara Gansluckner on Feb. 17, 1968, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Durand, Wis. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Hastings Knights of Columbus. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an engineer with Ecolab.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara, in 2009; daughter, Susan Imdieke Lindstrom, in 2000.
Thomas is survived by his son, Steve (Jody) Imdieke of Cottage Grove; grandchildren, Jacob and Ellie; son-in-law, Peter Lindstrom of Falcon Heights; sisters, Sr. Patricia Imdieke, O.S.F., of St. Cloud and Joann (Dave) Keller of St. Joseph.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. 7th St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to service at church. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hastings, followed by interment in the parish cemetery, with military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. Pallbearers were Ed Imdieke, Russell Bauer, Peter Lindstrom, Roger Rooney, Mara Clysdale, Sarah Rowley, and Jen Keller.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Regina Medical Center Pauline Unit.
