After a promising start, the Hastings girls volleyball team has hit a rough patch as of late. The Raiders lost two Suburban East Conference matches over the last week, falling to Mounds View and to Stillwater.

Consistency has been a problem for the Raiders, coach Rita Girgen said this week.

“We’re looking to have some more consistency with each player,” she said. “We know we have the skills. We know the girls have it. We just don’t know who is going to bring it and when. On Friday and Monday, at practice, that has been our focus – we need to be all out, all the time.”

In the match against Mounds View, Hastings lost 25-17, 25-12 and 25-15.

Girgen was pleased with the play of Raelyn Reinardy, who stepped in during the third game.

“She played all the way around for us,” Girgen said. “I thought she had a heck of a game. She was our most consistent player. She hasn’t seen a lot of playing time, but that could change now. I’m really excited about what I saw from her.”

In the stats department, Hastings was led in kills by Biancca DuFour, who had seven. Courtney Van De Velde had three.

Kaylyn Nicklay led in set assists with eight.
