Swimmers win again, 101-75

The Hastings girls swimming team kept on winning this week. On Thursday, Hastings had no trouble beating Cretin-Derham Hall in a Suburban East Conference matchup, 101-75.

The Hastings girls swimming team kept on winning this week. On Thursday, Hastings had no trouble beating Cretin-Derham Hall in a Suburban East Conference matchup, 101-75.

“The girls are really stepping up this year, not just in meets but in practices as well,” coach Katie McAlpin said. “They have been working hard, staying positive and have great attitudes this year. I am super excited to see what the rest of the season will bring.”

The swimmer of the meet for Hastings was Kate Reilly. She won all of her events for the Raiders.

Results from the meet went like this:

200 medley relay – team of Leah Wallace, Alyssa Spitzack, Allissa Smith and Mariah Wallace, first, 1:56.77; team of Sam Matsch, Christina Gillard, Megan Jahnke and Melanie Waibel, fourth, 2:13.27..

Team of Greta Utecht, Addyson Moore, Marissa Novak and Liz Cole, sixth, 2:25.70.

200 freestyle – Abbie Gjelhaug, first, 2:00.19; Breanna Kimmes, fifth, 2:09.69; Morgan McCullough, 2:10.22.
