Accident report for the week ending Sept. 18Here is this week's accident report. The report is compiled using information from the Hastings fire and police departments.
• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 6:18 p.m. Sept. 16 at the intersection of Westview Drive and 15th Street. Tanya Kath, 23 of Hastings, was approaching the intersection on 15th Street as a vehicle in front of her was just leaving the stop sign there. Kath said her child in the back seat began screaming, and when she looked back to see what was wrong, she rear-ended the vehicle in front of her.
• Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Ashland and Fourth streets at 2:29 p.m. Sept. 17. Samuel Robinson, 25 of Hastings, was driving north on Fourth Street and attempted to stop at the stop sign at Ashland Street, but the brakes on his vehicle went out. He put the vehicle in reverse to stop it, but slid into the intersection, where he hit another vehicle driven by Michael Wise, 39 of Hastings. Robinson’s vehicle was towed from the scene, but no injuries were reported.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:18 a.m. Sept. 18 at the intersection of South Frontage Road and Pleasant Drive. Eli Barrick, 20 of Hastings, had stopped at the stop sign on the frontage road and proceeded into the intersection. Another driver, Jamie Flynn, 44 of St. Paul, was driving toward the intersection on Pleasant but did not stop for the stop sign and hit Barrick’s vehicle at a right angle. Barrick reported injuries and went to the hospital. Flynn was issued a citation.
