The Hastings High School volleyball program will be participating in the Side-Out Foundation’s 2011 Dig Pink October Rally. This is a nationwide event in which middle/high schools and colleges designate a certain game/tournament as a Dig Pink day to both educate the community about breast cancer and to raise funds to go toward breast cancer research and compassionate support services.
Hastings volleyball is supporting this cause with a 7 p.m. match Tuesday, Oct. 4, against East Ridge.
The Hastings volleyball program is selling Dig Pink T-shirts to players, fans, school staff, and/or any community supporters. The profits from the T-shirts will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation and a local cancer society of choice. The Hastings Volleyball athletes are responsible for selling and promoting this event. In return for this community support, the program is providing free admittance to our match against East Ridge. The program’s goal is to contribute to the foundation and to increase community interest and support in the team’s growing program.
The Hastings High School volleyball program is also seeking local sponsorships to help cover the cost of the T-shirts. In appreciation for the contributions, business logos will be printed on the back of the T-shirts according to level of sponsorship.
T-shirts are available for purchase as well. They are $10. Shirts are available in both youth and adult sizes.
To purchase a shirt or to sponsor the event, contact Hastings coach Rita Girgen. Her email address is rgirgen@hotmail.com. Anyone wishing to order a shirt can send their requested size and payment directly to Girgen at 17125 Polk Avenue in Hastings.
