St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 1401 W. 15th St., is offering a summer preaching series, “Lessons from the Lake,” The series will take place over five Sunday mornings between now and Sept. 4 at either the 8:30 a.m. or 10 a.m. worship services.

The series is focusing on stories about Jesus as he traveled and taught along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. This fresh water lake was actually known by several different names in the Bible. Once or twice Luke even referred to it simply as "the lake" – even then he was clued into our Minnesotan way of speaking!

On and around the Sea of Galilee Jesus performed 18 of his 33 recorded miracles and issued most of his teachings to his disciples and the multitudes that followed him. In this series, we will examine some of these miraculous moments, and reflect on what they mean to us today.

The series is open to the community.
