It's Dakota County Fair time
The Dakota County Fair is planned in Farmington from Aug. 8-14. There are rides, exhibits, demolition derbies and, of course, concession stands promising all manner of fair food. In addition, a variety of contests exists for families.

In addition, a variety of contests exists for families. There are rabbit agility demonstrations, kids wolf howling contests, a bird calling competition, lumberjack shows, pony rides, climbing walls and live music.

Fair hours vary a bit. The admissions gate is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8.
From Tuesday through Sunday, the hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 14, the hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for those ages 6 to 12 and $2 for seniors over the age of 60. Children under 5 are free. Parking is available for $5.
The carnival operates on a different timeframe. It will be running from noon until 11 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8; from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14.
Carnival wristbands are available for purchase online in advance for $20. They are available at the fair for $25.
The fairgrounds are located in Farmington at 4008 220th Street West.
