Downtown Hastings will get a little noisy this weekend as bridge construction crews remove rock beneath the existing bridge.
According to a construction update from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the work will also alter routes into downtown Hastings. Second Street between Eddy and Sibley streets will be closed from 6 p.m. Friday, June 4, to 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, while crews work beneath the existing bridge. Work will be done from Friday night through Saturday and during the daylight hours on Monday. The ramp east of Highway 61 will also be temporarily closed during this time.
Mn/DOT says that downtown businesses will remain easily accessible throughout the closures.
This work is necessary to shift from the current phase to the next phase of utility work in the area.
