Jon B. Holmes, 38

Jon B. Holmes, age 38, of Apple Valley, passed away May 19, 2011, after an amazing 4-1/2-year battle with cancer.

He was born in St. Paul on July 20, 1972, to Thomas and Caryl Holmes. He married Laura Burkland at St. Kate's on June 4, 2004.

Jon was a tenacious man who loved his family, friends, and had a true "zest" for life. There was not an obstacle too big for Jon, and "NO" was not a part of his vocabulary. He was a dedicated senior national account manager for Sprint, who thoroughly loved his career.

He was preceded in death by twin babies, Jude and Eva.

Jon is survived by loving wife, Laura; children Blake and Campbell; parents, Thomas and Caryl Holmes; father- and mother-in-law, Dr. Carl and Kathie Burkland; brother-in-law, Dr. Carl (Barney) Burkland; many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins; and hundreds of "best friends."

Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Jim Perkl, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 23, at church, and 1 hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. Interment at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Pallbearers are Barney Burkland, Darren Helgesen, Spike Kingsley, Tony Krizan, Bill Schoenbauer, and Darren Reddekopp.
