With four players under 80, the Hastings boys golf team placed fifth at the Dakota County Invitational on Saturday at Emerald Greens.
Hastings was led by Nick Tusa and Jacob Cooper, who each had 77s.
Sean Eglington had a 78 and Sam Otto had a 79 to round out the varsity scoring. Hastings had a team score of 311.
Mike Dittrich had an 81 and Cole Carrigan had an 82.
“The boys played very well,” coach Pete McGinnis said. “I know the kids all hit the ball well and made very few mistakes.
“We did a much better job hitting greens in regulation which resulted in more birdie opportunities and pars. With four conference matches and a conference tourney left we are heading in the right direction.
“The kids are spending more time on the range and practice green, and that is paying off. Our goal is to get all six kids in the 70’s and getting our team putting average down to 27 putts per round.”
Hastings played at Prestwick on Monday and had a tough day.
Cooper led the way with a 78.
Otto had four birdies and an eagle in his round, Mark Huenke shot 83, Cole Carrigan shot 84 and Dominic Bacon shot 85.
The Raiders will now travel to Forest Lake on Monday, May 16, and Highland National on Thursday.
