Tennis: Raiders down Wolfpack, 7-0

The Hastings boys tennis team had no trouble beating Park of Cottage Grove last week. The Raiders won, 7-0, thanks to dominating three spots and winning close matches everywhere else.
In the top three singles spots, Hastings lost a total of just two games. At fourth singles and in the three doubles spots, though, it was a much different story for the Raiders.
Ben Carlson won at first singles, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, Matt Lund cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Chase Kasel had no trouble at third singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
At fourth singles, Cody Arndtson won 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
In doubles play, Charlie Carpenter and Ty Mellick teamed up to win 7-6, 5-7, 7-5.
Zach Mellick and Jalen Sneddeker won 6-3, 6-3.
Ben Klimek and Steve Roach won 6-3, 7-6.
Vs Roseville
Hastings lost to Roseville on May 4, 6-1.
Coach Mick Willette said he changed the lineup around at the last second and in hindsight wishes he wouldn’t have done so.
Hastings got its win at first singles, where Carlson won 7-5, 6-2.
Sneddeker lost at second singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Steve Roach fell at third singles, 6-0, 6-2.
At fourth singles, Craig Nielsen lost 6-2, 6-2.
Lund and Arndtson lost at first doubles, 6-2, 6-1.
Kasel and Carpenter lost at second singles, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
Ty Mellick and Zach Mellick lost at third doubles, 6-4, 7-5.
Vs Forest Lake
Hastings lost to Forest Lake on Tuesday, May 3, 5-2.
The two wins came in doubles play. Kasel and Carpenter won at first doubles, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Arndtson and Zach Mellick won at second doubles, 6-4, 6-2.
Carlson, Lund, Ben Klimek and Ty Mellick played singles for Hastings, and all fell.
The No. 3 doubles team was Sneddeker and Nielsen.
