Hastings tennis team edges Northfield, 4-3

In a very rare occurrence this spring, the Hastings boys tennis team was able to write the word “Nice” in the weather conditions field on the score sheet for a match. It must have been the first match all year where weather didn’t play much of a factor.

In a very rare occurrence this spring, the Hastings boys tennis team was able to write the word “Nice” in the weather conditions field on the score sheet for a match. It must have been the first match all year where weather didn’t play much of a factor.

For Hastings, it’s was a good thing the meet at Northfield went off without a hitch – Hastings went on to win, 4-3.

Hastings got wins at first and third singles and second and third doubles to get the non-conference win.

At the No. 1 spot, Ben Carlson won 6-4, 7-5.

Matt Lund fell at second singles, 6-2, 6-4.

At third singles, Chase Kasel won 6-3, 6-2.

Steve Roach fell at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Cody Arndtson and Charlie Carpenter lost 6-2, 6-3.

At No. 2 doubles, Zach Mellick and Ty Mellick teamed up to win a wild one, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

At third doubles, the team of Jalen Sneddeker and Craig Nielsen won 6-4, 6-4.

In exhibition play, Ben Klimek fell in singles and the doubles team of Alex Zuzek and Casey Sweeney fell.

Vs Mounds View

Hastings ran into a very tough Mounds View team and lost, 7-0.

Carlson lost 6-1, 6-0.

Lund lost 6-1, 6-0.

Kasel lost 6-3, 6-0.

Nielsen lost 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Carpenter and Arndtson lost 6-4, 6-0.

The team of Ty Mellick and Roach lost 6-1, 6-0.

Zach Mellick and Sneddeker fell, 7-5, 6-0.

Eagan tourney

Hastings competed at a tournament in Eagan over the weekend.

The Raiders fell to Red Wing, 6-1.

Carlson got the lone win, which came at first singles. He won, 6-3, 5-7, (10-3).

Lund, Kasel and Ty Mellick lost at the other three singles spots.

Hastings also lost to Mahtomedi and Eagan by 7-0 scores.
