John P. Fox, age 48, of Hastings, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on April 17, 2011.

John P. Fox, age 48, of Hastings, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on April 17, 2011.

He was the founder and owner of Precision Landscaping of Hastings for 30 years, "making Hastings beautiful one lawn at a time." He was born in Hastings on Sept. 14, 1962, to Reinold "Knob" and Pat Fox. John married Mary (Betzel) in Big River, Wis., on Dec. 29, 1990.

John loved his family and lived his life to the fullest. He was a charter member of the Hastings River Rats fishing club and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reinold "Knob" Fox; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson.

John is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Josh, Maddie, and Megan; mother, Pat Fox; siblings, Pam Fox (Paul Tisdale), Cindy (Kevin) Moline, Dr. Jeff Fox, Debbie (Reid) Seipp, Jimmy Fox, and Tammy (John) Bacon; brothers-in-law, Phil (Mary) Betzel, Wally (Carol) Betzel, and Joe (Kathy) Betzel; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Jay, Alex, Max, Ryan (godson), Ashley, Dominick, Sammy, Chris (Cory), Sara (Tim), Anne, Greg, Julie, Mike, Jeff, Lisa (son, Wyatt), Kevin, Jessica; goddaughter, Becca; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, and 1 hour prior to Mass on Wednesday. Interment St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery, Hastings. Pallbearers are John Bacon, Bruce Bremer, Chuck Deutsch, Jim Haugen, John Haugen, Lynn Johnson, Kraig Kerstetter, Cory Larson, Bob Medcraft, Dave Nolan, Dr. Jerry Perra, Mark Simacek, Dan Welshons, Dave Youngquist, John Zuzek, Scott Zuzek, and Dr. Larry Schmid. Memorials preferred.
