Dispute over television leads to assault charge against Hastings man

Hastings Police have charged Jordan Leo Swanson, 21, Hastings, with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation in connection with a Feb. 27 incident in Hastings.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a residence on the report of a domestic assault. When they arrived, they made contact with Swanson. He told police that everything was fine. The female who resides in the residence had gone to the neighbor’s residence. Police located her there. She told police she and Swanson had a discussion about turning the television off. She eventually turned off the television. When she sat back down in a chair, she said Swanson put her in a chokehold and dragged her over the chair onto the ground. She said she could not breathe. She said Swanson eventually stopped choking her and she called her daughter and ran to the neighbor’s residence.
