Hastings wrestlers stay perfect in SECThe Hastings Raiders wrestling team continued their dominance in the SEC with 64-9 dismantling of the Woodbury Royals on Thursday evening. The Raiders (No. 2 in AAA) put on a display of total domination in tallying seven pins, one forfeit, one technical fall, two majors, and a decision over the outmatched Royals.

The Hastings Raiders wrestling team continued their dominance in the SEC with 64-9 dismantling of the Woodbury Royals on Thursday evening. The Raiders (No. 2 in AAA) put on a display of total domination in tallying seven pins, one forfeit, one technical fall, two majors, and a decision over the outmatched Royals.
The Raiders boast nine ranked wrestlers in the latest polls, they are; Isaac Bauer (No. 7 at 103), Luke Rowh (No. 8 at 112), Corey Latuff (No. 5 at 119), Eric Bauer (No. 5 at 125), Colten LaChance (No. 2 at 140), Zach Rohr (No. 1 at 145), Jeff Engstrom (No. 7 at 152), Jake Swenson (No. 7 at 171), and Isaac Eichmann (No. 6 at 215).
The Raiders opted to forfeit at 103 pounds giving the Royal an early 6-0 lead.
Hastings Isaac Bauer faced sixth ranked Justin Herold-Plakut at 112 pounds. Scoring was hard to come by for both wrestlers as Herold-Plakut gained the only points with a third period escape to win 1-0.
After spotting the Royals a 9-0 lead, the Raiders never lost another match as Danny Gove started the steamroller with an 18-6 major decision over Matt Delaney in 119 pounds match.
At 125 pounds, Corey Latuff scored Hastings’ first of seven pins of the night over Matt Lundblad, with Eric Bauer gaining his first period pin over Kevin Beseman.
At 135 pounds, Keenan Menge went up against ninth- ranked Ben Donnelly. Menge use two third-period takedowns to frustrate Donnelly in a 5-1 decision. Hunter Swenson rode his way to a 13-0 major decision over Connor Harreld at 140 pounds.
At 145 pounds, Colten LaChance claimed a 28-13 technical fall over Ryan Dickhausen, with Zach Rohr adding to the pin total with a first period pin of Brandon Borchardt.
Jeff Engstrom, 152 pounds, made quick work of Howard Jones with his 54 second pin. Jake Swenson took 62 seconds to pin Anthony Doreo, at 171 pounds.
Josh Lohmann, 189 pounds, scored the quickest pin of the night with a 32 second pin of Phillip Fraser.
With Isaac Eichmann receiving a forfeit at 215 pounds, Jake Anderson ended the dual with the final pin for the Raiders at 68 seconds of the first period over Quinn Schmalz.
Raiders cruise to title
On Saturday, the Hastings wrestling team made little work of the competition assembled in Bloomington on their way to another title at the Dave Arens Classic. The Raiders were never fully challenged all day as they cruised to blowout wins in all three duals.
Hastings faced St. Paul Humboldt in the opening round of the tournament. With Humboldt forfeiting seven weights, the match took little time. The Raiders won five of the six matches that were actually wrestled on their way to a 72-6 victory.

Round two was much more competitive for the Raiders, but the outcome was similar. Hastings dominated the dual winning 11 of 14 matches; six pins, one technical fall, three major decisions, and one decision.
With Hastings down 6-0 after choosing to forfeit at 103 pounds, due to match count issues, Isaac Bauer (112) tied the score with a second period pin of Carlos Vasquez.
Danny Gove (119) added a 16-6 major decision over Jackson Judge, followed by Corey Latuff’s (125) first period pin of Andy Lembeck to give Hastings a 16-6 lead.
Hastings’ Eric Bauer’s (130) quick pin of Cullen Eldem along with Keenan Menge’s (135) 10-2 major over Hugo Felix extended the lead to 26-6.
At 140 pounds, Hunter Swenson kept Hastings rolling with his 8-5 decision over Tyler Lembeck while Colten LaChance (145) secured a 28-13 technical fall against Breaden Rumler to give Hastings a 34-6 lead.
A 15-5 major decision by Zach Rohr (152) over Ben Cousins, followed by Jeff Engstrom’s pin of Cullen Brown pushed the Raiders lead to 44-6.
In the 171 pound match, Fifth-ranked Jarod Rau of Bloomington Kennedy put a stop to the Raiders scoring with a 13-3 major decision over Jake Rachuy. Josh Vaughan (fifth-ranked) capped the Eagles scoring with a pin of Josh Lohmann at 189 pounds to pull Bloomington Kennedy close at 44-16.
Isaac Eichmann (215) made short work of Jordan Dodd with his first period pin, and Heavyweight Jake Anderson finished the dual with his own pin to end the scoring at 56-16.

In the championship match the Raiders met the Irondale Knights. The Knights had some good wrestlers but they were unable to a match the depth and skill of the Raiders as Hastings won 11 of 14 matches with nine pins, one major, and one decision on their way to a 61-8 thumping in the title match.
At 103 pounds, Luke Rowh put Hastings on the board with a 17-9 Major decision over Ryan Weinmann.
In the 112 pound match, the Knight’s Dustin Weinmann scored a 4-0 decision over Isaac Bauer followed by Devin Wolf pulling out a 12-11 decision over Hastings’ Danny Gove, at 119 pounds, to give Irondale its only lead of the dual at 6-4.
Corey Latuff (125) righted the ship for the Raiders with a pin of Billy Roach to put Hastings back in the lead 10-6.
Pins by Eric Bauer (130) and Keenan Menge (135) extended the lead to 22-6.
Irondale’s sixth-ranked Derek Weinmann earned an 8-1 decision over Hunter Swenson to give the Knight their last points, making the dual 22-9.
Pins by Colten LaChance (145), Zach Rohr (152), Jeff Engstrom (160), Jake Swenson (171), Josh Lohmann (189), and Isaac Eichmann (215) ran the lead to 58-8.
Heavyweight, Jake Anderson closed the dual with a 5-0 decision over Charley Budd.

Hastings has a full schedule this week with the Raiders in Stillwater on Thursday evening for a SEC dual. Friday, the Raiders will celebrate senior night by hosting Scott West (No. 3 in AA) to close out the home part of their schedule. Saturday, the wrestlers will be in Anoka competing in the Anoka Duals.
