Huneke scores twice, Raiders beat Royals, 3-1

The Hastings girls hockey team improved to 4-3 in conference play with a 3-1 win over Woodbury last week.

The Hastings girls hockey team improved to 4-3 in conference play with a 3-1 win over Woodbury last week.

The Raiders are now in the middle of the Suburban East Conference standings. Roseville and White Bear Lake lead the league with 6-1 records. Stillwater is third at 6-2 and Mounds View is fourth with a mark of 5-2.

In the game against Woodbury, Hastings took a 2-0 lead in the first period. It turns out that would be the only offense the team needed.

Courtney Boucher scored the first Hastings goal, unassisted, at 2:23 of the first period.

Brittney Huneke scored at 11:37, assisted by Kit Ruedy.

Woodbury scored its lone goal at 15:55 to make the score 2-1 after one period.

Following a scoreless second period, Huneke scored at 1:56 of the third, assisted by Mackenzie Klimek.

Stef Wical played in goal for the Raiders. She made 25 saves.

Hastings had 21 shots on goal.

Hastings has a 6-4 record on the season.

Hastings is playing this week at a Farmington holiday tournament.
