In the summer of 2006, Hastings held its first Cruise-In. Since then, every other Saturday during the summer, downtown has been full of cars and masses of people.
From late May through the first weekend in October, the car shows run every other Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the downtown area.
The Cruise-Ins also offer plenty of action for people who aren’t interested in classic cars. Most of the shops in downtown Hastings stay open late on Cruise-In Saturdays. Food vendors are present on the streets, and the restaurants that line the downtown streets are open as well.
The majority of cars are located on Second Street, but the side streets are always full, too. Late in 2007, the car show had grown so popular that cars were being parked in lots near the Mississippi River and the railroad tracks.
Cars from 1976 and before are welcome.
