Independent School District 200 serves Hastings and the surrounding towns of Miesville, New Trier, Vermillion, Hampton, and Denmark Township to the north in Washington County.

Based on the most recent data, there are approximately 1,565 students at Hastings High School and 1,507 students at Hastings Middle School. Approximately 1,822 students are registered at the three public grade schools.

ACT scores normally exceed the state and national averages. Hastings students recently posted an average of 22.5 on the ACT. The district has recently developed a full spectrum of advanced placement classes, covering the subjects of American history, American government, calculus, English literature, American literature and music theory.
