Tennis: Hastings falls to Mounds View

Hastings saw first-hand this week just how good the Mustangs are. But while the Raiders fell 6-1, the match was much closer than the score makes it look.

“We played really well,” coach Craig Raway said. “We came out of the match feeling like we played one of our best matches of the year. Everybody played really well. We fought really hard. You can’t complain when that goes on.”

Hastings lost at first doubles in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6. The team of Shanna Burgmeier and Erika Nielsen played one of its best matches of the year, but fell in a close third set.

The No. 2 doubles team of Ashley Addison and Gina Dabruzzi won, 6-4, 6-2.

The third doubles team of Jessica Wassink and Hannah Carlson lost a close one, 2-6, 3-6.

At singles, Close matches were played by Hailey Lundquist, who fell 6-2, 6-2.

Kirsten Peterson and Morgan Tjomsland each lost at singles, but were able to keep each match close.

Lindsey Reinisch lost her first set at first singles, 6-0, but came back in the second set and won two games.

Hastings is now 8-5 on the season.
