Through two weeks of the Hastings High School girls tennis season, the Raiders have a solid 4-2 record.

At Friday’s annual Hastings invitational, again a triangular this year, Hastings split its matches, beating Woodbury and then losing in a close match to a strong Rosemount team.

Vs Woodbury

Hastings cruised to an 8-0 win over Woodbury during the annual Hastings tournament Friday.

At first singles, Lindsey Reinisch defeated Louisa Schunemann, 6-1, 6-0.

At second singles, Kirsten Peterson defeated Hannah Robbins, 6-3, 6-3.

At third singles, Morgan Tjomsland beat Michaela Anderson, 6-1, 6-1.

At fourth singles, Ashley Addison beat Andra Zerba, 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Shanna Burgmeier and Erika Nielsen beat Ellen Proesch and Jillian Chamara, 6-1, 6-1.

At the No. 2 spot, Jessica Wassink and Gina Dabruzzi beat Rachel Eisenrich and Alex Hinze, 6-1, 6-4.

At No. 3 singles, Hannah Carlson and Hailey Lundquist teamed up to defeat Elizabeth Straub and Lauren Tott, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.

At fourth doubles, Maddie Carlson and Abbie Williams beat Ambika Patpatia and Mandy Morris, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Vs Rosemount

Rosemount beat Hastings, 5-3, thanks in large part to their dominance at singles. The Irish won all four spots in singles play.

Doubles were the bright spot for the Raiders, as the team picked up wins at first, third and fourth doubles.

At first doubles, Burgmeier and Nielsen beat Makayla Newberry and Layna Mestad, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (1).

At the third spot, Carlson and Lundquist won 6-0, 7-6 (5) over Emily Harrington and Rachel Olson.

At No. 4 doubles, Annika Peterson and Jill Weinzettel won 6-1, 6-0.

The long doubles loss was at the No. 2 spot, where Wassink and Dabruzzi fell to Heather Castner and Megan Harrington, 6-0, 6-2.

Reinisch lost at first singles to Virginia Norder, 7-6 (3) and 6-1.

Kirsten Hoffman beat Peterson at second singles, 6-0, 7-5.

At third singles, Tjomsland fell to Ally Baker, 6-2, 6-1.

At fourth singles, Addison lost to Mariah McGivern, 6-0, 6-4.

Vs Northfield

In just looking at the score, it would appear Hastings had no trouble with Northfield on Aug. 26, beating the Raiders 7-0. Three of the wins, though, were in three sets.

Reinisch won at first singles, 6-1, 6-3.

Tjomsland cruised at second singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Lundquist saw time at third singles and made the most of it, winning 7-6 (4), 6-0.

Weinzettel, an eighth-grader, moved up to singles and scored a nice 6-3, 6-0 win. It was her first varsity singles match.

In doubles, Burgmeier and Nielsen won 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Dabruzzi and Addison won at second singles, 6-4, 7-6 (1).

At third doubles, it was Wassink and Carlson teaming up to win in three games, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
