Brian John Jacobson, age 34, of Lake City, died tragically as a result of an automobile accident on Monday, May 3, in Hastings.

Brian was born in Red Wing on August 27, 1975, the son of Richard and Kathleen (Watson) Jacobson. Brian grew up in the Red Wing area and graduated from Central High School in 1993. He was a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard, serving two honorable tours in Iraq. He received a Combat Action Badge and earned a battlefield promotion to staff sergeant. He was currently employed at Army Aviation Support Facility as an electronics technician. Brian was united in marriage with Ember Lynn Johnson on Sept. 20, 2003, at the Jacobson Family Farm in Red Wing.

Survivors include his wife, Ember; two children, Shamelah (age 16) and Atlas (age 3), both at home; his parents, Richard and Kathleen of Red Wing; his siblings, Sara (Johnie) Parker of Red Wing, Scott (Shelly) Jacobson of Red Wing; his in-laws, David (Susan) Johnson of Welch, Jan (Mike) Lange of Hastings, Marcus (Jennifer) Johnson of Welch, Michelle (Eric) Laumeyer of Hastings, Zeke (Meagan) Johnson of Chicago, Sarah Johnson of Monticello, Mercy (Joey) Frederickson of Lawrence, Kan., Tucker Johnson of Provo, Utah, Jean LaPlant of Maiden Rock, Wis., Harry (Beverly) Johnson of Kaysville, Utah, and Jeanne Scofield of Hastings; his grandparents, Donald (Marian) Nelson of Red Wing; many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dallas Watson and Harold Jacobson, and his grandmother, Elsie Jacobson.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 7 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Assembly Area #2. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 6, and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
