The boys golf team played at the Park Invite at River Oaks and finished 10th of 20 teams.
Eighth-grader Jake Cooper shot 80, senior captain Max Fox shot 84, eighth-grader Sam Otto shot 81 and eighth-grader Nick Tusa shot 83. Seventh-grader Matt Radke shot 86 and junior Brock Johnson shot 86. Some holes went longer because of wind, head coach Pete McGinnis said.
On Thursday, the boys traveled to Bunker Hills to play in a 27-hole tournament and finished 20th out of 31 teams. The best two out of three rounds counted. Fox and Cooper led the way, each shooting 80. Otto shot 81, Tusa shot 83, Johnson shot 86 and Radke shot 86. Both the section and state tournaments will be played at Bunker Hills.
The Raiders played 36 holes Monday, 18 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine and 18 at the conference match at Midland Hills. At the TPC, Radke fired an 81 on one of the toughest courses the Raiders will play. Course management was crucial to playing well. Fox shot an 84 with four birdies, Cooper shot 87, Otto shot 88, Johnson shot 88 and Bryce Martin shot 93.
At Midland Hills, the first conference match, the boys finished the day with a team score of 334. Fox shot 81, Cooper shot 83, Johnson shot 84, Otto shot 86, Radke shot 88 and Martin shot 95.
“I thought the boys got tired in the afternoon,” McGinnis said. “We missed lots of short putts, and the six guys averaged 34 putts for the round. We did not get up and down off the green very well.”
The raiders will play in the Tri-State this Friday and Saturday at the Hastings Country Club.
