Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is Monday Jan. 18, and city and county offices are closed, as well as Hastings schools.

There will be no TRAC service through the city that day, and Hastings City Hall will be closed. All Dakota County offices are also closed, along with Hastings schools. The Pleasant Hill Library won't be open.

The Hastings City Council meeting that would have fallen on Monday has been moved back to Tuesday Jan. 19. To accommodate members of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce who have their annual dinner that night, the meeting has been moved up to 5:30 p.m. from the normal 7 p.m. so council members can attend the dinner. The council will vote on a proposed storm water fee that night.

There is no formal city observation of the holiday, which is every third Monday in January. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday was Jan. 15 and the holiday celebrates his birth and all he did for civil rights in America.
