After serving a year in Iraq, about 20 Hastings members of the Minnesota National Guard 34th Red Bull Infantry Division will be coming home.
The Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee, led by Hastings resident/veteran Dean Markuson, will begin to make plans to welcome the members home. A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Hastings Veterans of Foreign wars office, 275 W. 33rd St., Suite 1 (next to Sears).
Discussion will also be held about honoring military members during April.
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a program that trains community members on how to support soldiers and their families through deployment, as well as when they return to civilian life.
All interested are welcome.
