Filings for the three open seats on the School District 200 School Board closed Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m.

The three incumbents, Dan Cater, Teresa Moes and Vince O’Brien, filed for the seats early. All said early on that they intended to run again.

Two newcomers join the mix.

Lisa Hedin and Angie McGinnis filed for the seats Tuesday, throwing their hats in the ring for what could be a tumultous term in office. The School District is facing a bond issue referendum this fall, and governments around the state, including schools, are facing cuts in budgets.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. There will be no primary in the School Board election.

At the same time, district residents will be voting on a bond issue. The district is seeking a little more than $19 million for repair and renovation of the district’s schools.

The bond issue is divided into three questions for voters.
