Law enforcement officers from around Dakota County patrolled Hastings and the surrounding rural area Saturday night during a saturation patrol, and took six people into custody, including four drunk drivers.

The Dakota County Traffic Safety Group is a partnership between law enforcement agencies in the county. There were 12 extra officers on duty from 9 p.m. Saturday, July 18, to 3 a.m., July 19.

The officers stopped 137 vehicles in that time period. Besides the four DUI arrests, there were two open bottle citations and three minor consumption tickets issued. There was also one drug arrest.

Officers also issued four driving after revocation citations, seven insurance violations, 33 traffic tickets, and 126 traffic warnings.

The 12 officers, one of which was a Hastings officer, logged 73 man-hours and put 1,171 miles on their squad cars.

Saturation patrols during large community festivals, such as Rivertown Days and Leprechaun Days in Rosemount, are common for the Dakota County Traffic Safety Group.
