Sunday, July 19, Minnesota bicyclists have the opportunity to participate in a scenic 15-mile or 50-mile bike tour of the Hastings area. Called “Tour de Hastings,” the event is free of charge to bikers, but optional donations will be collected for Hastings Family Service and matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the event co-sponsor. The event is part of Hastings’ annual Rivertown Days celebration.

“These tour routes offer the beauty of the Mississippi, the charm of Hastings and the opportunity to help others,” said Bruce Petersen, LUTCF, FIC, a financial associate for Thrivent Financial in Hastings. “We trust that tour participants will experience a great ride and great memories. And, we hope they also give generously to support the work of Hastings Family Service.”

Thrivent Financial will match a portion of event donations for Hastings Family Service.

Interested bicyclists may pre-register for the ride at http://www.hastingsmn.org/rivertownday.htm no later than noon, Friday, July 17. Riders may also register the day of the race at Wilson Park, the corner of Fifth and Spring streets in Hastings.

The 50-mile ride begins at 8 a.m., and the 15-mile ride will begin shortly after. Both rides will start from Wilson Park. Participants are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their ride.

Sponsors of the tour are Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Route Bike Shop.
