Eric F. Rego, age 25 of Hastings, died unexpectedly on Dec. 26, 2008 after a brief respiratory illness. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, will be held at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West 9th Street, Hastings at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31. The visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. 7th St., Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the service at church. Eric F. Rego, age 25 of Hastings, died unexpectedly on Dec. 26, 2008 after a brief respiratory illness.

Eric was born Oct. 27, 1983 in Hastings to Mark A. and Sonia L. (Egland) Rego. He was an Eagle Scout, a 2002 graduate of Hastings High School and a St. John’s University graduate. Eric thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and skiing. He loved his family and his dog Mack, and was a very loving and caring person to all who knew him.

Eric is survived by his parents Mark and Sonia; brother Chad Rego of Cottage Grove and sister Crystal Rego of Hastings; grandparents Francis and Frances Rego and Lyle and Helen Egland all of Hastings; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, was held at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West 9th Street, Hastings at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008. The visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. 7th St., Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the service at church. The pallbearers were Chad Rego, Robert Coonrod, Adam Siebenaler, Jim Siebenaler, Nathan Rego, and Eric Kennedy.
