Two hundred barrels of gasoline spilled from a holding tank at the Marathon Petroleum Refinery, St. Paul Park, at 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

Marathon spokesman Robert Calmus said no one was hurt and the spill was contained in the earthen dike surrounding the 71,677-barrel holding tank.

Firefighters from St. Paul Park and Newport responded to a 911 call, but were not needed on refinery property, Calmus said. They held a fire watch at the periphery while Marathon crews sprayed foam on the spilled gasoline.

“One hundred percent of the spilled gasoline was contained and will be reprocessed,” Calmus said.

Cause of the spill is still under investigation.
