National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Ryan Roberts and pilot of the helicopter that landed in Hastings Tuesday spiced his talk with good humor. “Make a circle with your fingers,” he said. “Now put in on your forehead,” he added, placing his next to his ear. Most of the kids put their “circle” next to their ear too. But most of his message was serious, explaining to his audience that he’s able to be a pilot because he got educated, stayed away from drugs, and stayed out of trouble.

A UH-60A Blackhawk helicopter landed between the Hastings Middle School and Pinecrest Elementary School Tuesday.
