Hastings wrestlers won 34 of 42 matches during a quadrangular last week.

Hastings beat Cretin-Derham Hall, Roseville and Harding in the process.

The meet opened with a 51-19 win over Roseville.

In the first dual of the night, Hastings took 10 of the 14 matches on its way to a convincing win. They racked up five pins, two technical falls, two major decisions and one decision.

Luke Rowh (an eighth-grader), wrestling in his first varsity match, started the dual by pinning December Htoo at 103. Eric Bauer (119) and Corey Latuff (125) followed with pins of their own while Matt Leko notched a tech fall at (130) to give the Raiders a 23-4 lead.

Colten LaChance (140) scored a 16-5 major decision, Zach Rohr (145) earned a tech fall, and Tyler Rohr (145) pinned his opponent to put the Raiders up 38-10.

Rounding out the dual wins were Josh Lohmann (189) gaining a decision, Isaac Eichmann (215) with a major and P.J. Mike (275) ending the dual with a pin.

Hastings had little trouble with Cretin-Derham Hall. Hastings won, 76-3.

Hastings used the match to give some kids opportunities to earn varsity wins and Luke Rowh (103), Alex Jones (112), DJ Yandrasits (135), and Alex Nygaard (152) all came away with six-point wins for the team.

Eric Bauer (119) kept the pins coming with a second-period pin and Corey Latuff (125) added a technical fall to give the Raiders a 23-0 lead. Pins by Matt Leko (130) and Yandrasits put Hastings ahead 35-0.

Pins by Zach Rohr (145), Nygaard, Jake Swenson (171), Josh Lohmann (189), and PJ Mike (275), along with a technical fall by Harry Bourgoin (160) and a forfeit to Isaac Eichmann, rounded out the scoring for the Raiders.

Vs Harding

Hastings beat Harding in the third match of the night, 62-17.

Hastings once again showed their strength by winning 11 of 14 matches. Coach Justin Hahn gave other kids more opportunities to show their wrestling skills on the varsity stage. Luke Rowh (103) and Duncan Tweet (112) both earned forfeit wins.

DJ Yandrasits (135) earned his second win of the night with a 12-8 decision over Che Her. Dylan Nelson (140) received a victory when his opponent, Dustin Ellsworth, had to Injury Default in the second period. Jake Rachuy (160) took little time in pinning his opponent and Taylor Wasvick (275) received a forfeit in the final match for Hastings.

Other wrestlers earning victories were Corey Latuff (125) and Matt Leko (130) with first-period pins. Captain Zach Rohr (145) scored a first-period technical fall while Jake Swenson (171) and Isaac Eichmann (215) pinned their kids in the first period as well.

Last week was Eichmann's first week back after knee surgery.

He went 3-0 on the night.

"He did a great job holding his weight down while he was out," Hahn said. "He's got to work on his conditioning now, to get him ready for sections. He'll get ready. He has some good guys to wrestle here every day. Even coach (Jim) Rohr gets in there to wrestle him."

Yandrasits' effort had Hahn excited, too.

"DJ has been around wrestling for a couple years," Hahn said. "He's a junior now, and he's a great runner. He's done a couple marathons, but he hasn't wrestled varsity a lot for us. He had a great opportunity last week and he really took advantage of it. He wrestled really well and really stepped up."

Hahn praised the work of Latuff, who had two pins and a tech-fall win in the quadrangular.

Zach Rohr had two technical falls and a pin. LaChance and Bauer also continued their strong seasons with extra team points.

Hastings has a conference record of 6-0 with three conference meets remaining on the schedule.
