A warm Gobble Gait is Thursday; registration still available
Hastings area residents can leave those parkas at home for the 15th annual Gobble Gait run/walk on Thanksgiving. High temperatures are forecast to reach 57 degrees on Thursday and at racetime, the temperature is expected to be at about 52 degrees. The 8K run begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 2K run/walk begins immediately after the 8K race.
It's not too late to register for the race. Registration can be done the night before the race at the pre-race pasta party and same day registration is allowed prior to the start of the race on Nov. 22.
The pre-race pasta party will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at The Onion Grille, 100 Sibley St. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.
The registration fee is $35 for the 8K run and $10 for the 2K walk. The family fee (for immediate family members) is $25.
The event raises funds and food for Hastings Family Service. Since that first Gobble Gait in 1998, more than a half million dollars and tons of food have been raised, all of which has stayed here to help those in need in Hastings.
Well-known Twin Cities gospel vocalist Robert Robinson will sing the national anthem before the race begins. Organizers said that an anonymous donor funded Robinson's appearance.
