Two killed in collision on Highway 61
Two people died in a collision on Highway 61 Sunday evening that involved a motorcycle and passenger car.
The collision occurred on northbound Highway 61 at 120th Street when the driver of a 1996 Saturn tried to turn to eastbound 120th Street and pulled in front of a motorcycle, which was in the left lane, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The motorcycle hit the front passenger side of the vehicle.
The driver and passenger on the motorcycle, Randy L. Metzler, 51, and Kay M. Metzler, 56, both of Bloomington, were ejected from the motorcycle in the crash and were fatally injured. Neither were wearing helmets.
The driver of the car, Michael L. Anderson, 44, of Minneapolis had a broken rib and lacerated liver. Alcohol was detected in his system, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
