Treasure Island presented with Patriot Award
Treasure Island Resort & Casino recognized and thanked for their support of the military and veterans by Michael J. O'Rourke on behalf of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This is a Department of Defense (DoD) organization that acknowledges employers who place a priority on supporting employees who are in the military. O'Rourke presented Mike Heavner, General Manager of Treasure Island Resort & Casino with the Patriot Award.
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard conducts an awards program designed to recognize employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. According to O'Rourke, not every employer nominated gets considered for this prestigious award on a national level.
Treasure Island was nominated by six year veteran Sgt. Christopher Schmitz of the US Army National Guard. Military personnel can nominate their employer if they feel the level of support is exceptional. Schmitz is a black jack dealer and assistant pit supervisor at Treasure Island.
