For high schools in Minnesota, the track season is typically held outdoors. That would of course be news to the Hastings boys and girls track teams this year. The team has yet to feel the warmth of the sun, or to feel the wind on their face.

Rather, the team has been cooped up inside without a single meet.

At least one part of that problem was fixed last week. The team had an indoor meet at River Falls, Wis., called the Border Battle.

The Hastings boys fared well, placing fourth out of eight teams. Hudson won the meet with 125 points. River Falls was second (108), Somerset, Wis., was third (103) and Hastings had 82.5 points. Teams from East Ridge, Park, Osceola, Wis., and Hill-Murray also competed.

Hastings had two first-place finishes in the meet. The Raiders won the 4x800 relay by 10 seconds, finishing in 8:31.60.
