Hastings Minnesota 745 Spiral Boulevard 55033

Imagine it is 7:25 a.m. on a Tuesday morning and you need a cup of coffee. You stop at the Holiday Station at 15th and Vermillion Streets and park on the north side of the building.

You jump out, run inside, grab your coffee, pay and then return to your car, only to find that while you were away someone had smashed out a window of your vehicle and stolen your purse.

That's exactly what happened to a Hastings woman on Jan. 31.

A half-hour earlier, something similar happened at Walmart, when a bookbag was stolen after a thief broke out a passenger-side window.

Later on Jan. 31, a purse was stolen from a vehicle in the 1600 block of 12th Street.

Last week, the Hastings Police Department released photographs of people they'd like to question regarding a number of previous vehicle thefts. The images were taken by surveillance cameras at area stores.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact Hastings Police Detective Craig Nowlan at 651-480-2319 or

Thefts from vehicles weren't the only ones reported last week. At least four homes in or around the 2000 block of Ashland Street were the targets of burglars. The burglaries were on Jan. 31.
