Tennis: Hastings beats Park 5-2

The Hastings boys tennis team played their best match yet against Park of Cottage Grove Tuesday. After losing all their singles matches in two meets one week earlier, the Raiders bested the Wolfpack in three out of four singles matches. Two wins in doubles put the final score at 5-2.

Josh Houska won 6-3 in his first two sets in No. 2 singles; Matt Lund won 7-5, 7-6, and 7-5 in the No. 3 spot; and Chase Kasel won 6-2 and 6-0 at No. 4. No. 1 singles sophomore Ben Carlson lost 4-6 and 3-6 to a Park senior.

Hastings' doubles teams have been consistently strong so far this season, winning two out of three matches each meet. Against Park, No. 1 doubles Jake Langeslay and Brett Peterson won 6-3 and 6-4 and No. 3 doubles Elliot Siebenaler and Cody Arndtson won 6-3 in their first two sets. No. 2 doubles Mitch Murphy and Charlie Carpenter started strong and won their first match, but lost ground in the second set and couldn't recover in the third. They lost 6-4, 3-6, and 4-6.
