Swimming: Hastings whips Roseville
The Hastings boys swimming team handily won another Suburban East Conference dual meet last week. The Raiders beat Roseville, 90.5-74.5.
At one point, Hastings led 90.5-49.5 before swimming exhibition only in the final two events.
Good swims were turned in by Hastings athletes all night long, including two lifetime bests by Tony Ring. He had his best times in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
John Utecht, out for the team for the first time this season, had a section qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke.
Elliot Wilcox finished the 500 freestyle in under five minutes, which was an extraordinary feat considering he's not rested, Hastings coach Gerry Rupp said.
Rupp and the Raiders are now preparing for the section meet at the Rochester Recreation Center. The meet will be Thursday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 27.
