Suspect is sentenced in drug case
A 26-year-old Hastings man, Andrew Carter Bennett, has been sentenced in connection with a fifth-degree drug case (possession) in Washington County.
At the Feb. 27 sentencing, Bennett was sentenced to 13 months in the Washington County Jail. The sentence was stayed and Bennett was placed on probation for five years, serve 120 days in the Washington County Jail, pay a fine of $500 or do community work service.
The charge was filed after a Dec. 30, 2012 incident in Woodbury. Woodbury Police were investigating a theft from vehicle case and located the missing items in Bennett’s vehicle, parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot. They also found a methamphetamine pipe and suspected methamphetamine as well as several plastic bags containing suspected marijuana.
Bennett was located nearby and in a statement to police, said he had taken the items, and most of the other items in his vehicle were his. Some of the suspected drug items were his.
