Storm slows, but doesn't stop, Minnesota State Open at country club

This tent frame was among several that were demolished by high winds at the Hastings Country Club Friday morning.

Friday morning's strong storm in Hastings prompted a significant delay at the Minnesota State Open golf tournament at the Hastings Country Club.

The tournament started at 7:30 a.m. Friday, but was delayed approximately 3 hours because of lightning, strong winds and hail that came through the area.

Tents around the course were demolished, tree branches littered the course and leaves and twigs were everywhere.

Once the storm passed, grounds crews were out in force and got the clean-up under way. By 10:30 a.m. the tournament resumed.

The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday.
