Steven Allen Mann, 59

Steven Allen Mann, age 59, of Hastings, passed away Oct. 31, after a lengthy struggle with mental illness and addiction.

He was born Sept. 16, 1954, Racine, Wis., to Barbara and Gordon Mann.

He married Frances M. Jauquet on Jan. 8, 1985, in Milwaukee, Wis. Steven was a loving husband and proud father, his spirituality came from nature, he resonated with Native American philosophy, he loved the outdoors, fishing, dogs, and hanging out in his Shasta Trailer, spending time with his sons at Gordon Lake. He was a really good cook and grill master. He was known for a sharp, irreverent sense of humor. He suffered greatly and is now free and at peace. He was a gentle, thoughtful man.

Steven was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Louise Browder.

He is survived by wife, of 30 years, Frances M. Jauquet of Hastings; sons, Gordon Mann of Vail, Colo., and Joseph Mann of Miesville, Minn.; parents, Barbara and Gordon Mann, of Vero Beach, Fla.; brothers, Robert Mann of Phoenix, Ariz., and William Mann of The Woodlands, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; friend, Willy Wawrzyn, whom Steven considered a brother.

A memorial service, officiated by Reverend Paula Sanders, will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, funeral procession begins at 4 p.m., leaving from 224 W. 6th St., Hastings, MN; and proceeding one block to the First Presbyterian Church, 601 Vermillion St., Hastings. A reception at 224 W. 6th St., Hastings, immediately after the funeral. The graveside service will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Vernon, Big Bend, Wis.; dinner following, location TBA.
