St. John the Baptist School strives to provide safe, nurturing environment
One of the goals at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion is to aim high in all areas of education and adhere to the principles of Catholic faith.
As the new school year begins at the school, that goal is exactly what the schools' staff and administrators will strive to accomplish.
The school provides programs and classes in grades preschool through six. The Principal is Sr. Tresa Margret.
"St. John the Baptist School is a special place that strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which each child can flourish," she said.
A school open house will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. Parents and students will have the opportunity to tour the building, meet their teachers and ask questions.
The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 4. For Kindergarten to grade five students, the start time is 8:45 a.m. and dismissal is at 3:45 p.m. Preschool starts at 9 a.m. with dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
All school families are expected to volunteer 30 hours during the school year. Volunteers are an important part of the school's success, said Sr. Tresa Margret.
