Season ends for Hastings baseball team
The Hastings baseball season came to an end on Thursday with a 6-0 loss to Albert Lea in the first round of the Section 1AAA baseball tournament.
Hastings was seeded No. 8 and Albert Lea was No. 9.
The Tigers managed to shut down the Hastings bats, allowing just one hit to the Raiders. Matt Koch earned the Hastings hit.
"Our pitching didn't show up as we walked a lot of batters and gave up hits after those walks, resulting in the Albert Lea scoring," coach Taylor Pagel said.
Hastings beat Farmington on May 21, 3-0.
Robert Rotty threw a complete game two-hitter to earn the win on the mound. He struck out one and walked just one.
Hastings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then added two runs in the third.
Billy Biskupski led the Raiders at the plate with two hits, a run and an RBI. Sam Schoeberl finished with three hits on the day.
Joe Shingledecker had a hit and a run. Jared Powell had a hit and an RBI.
Cody McNary also had a hit.
