School district offers text message service for parents
Hastings Public Schools has launched a new service that will enhance communication by allowing the district to deliver important information to parents via SMS text messaging.
This service is not intended to replace existing means of communication, rather it will enhance them. The district will only use the service to provide information that is timely and relevant.
In order to participate in the new service, parents must have a cell phone on file with the School District, and then parents must indicate willingness to receive text messages to their phones. The process is simple and only takes a short time to complete.
The directions are available on the School District’s web site — www.hastingsk12.mn.us.
Elementary parents will need to update or add their cell phone numbers manually by adding or correcting their student’s information card at their elementary open house this month.
Parents who know the cell phone they wish to be contacted on is already listed with the school district can opt into the service by skipping Step 1, and going directly to Step 2 according to the direction sheet.
