Hastings softball player Jordan Schaffer is one of the finalists for the 2010 Ms. Softball Award.

The Minnesota Minute Men, in cooperation with the Minnesota Twins, recently announced the finalists for both the Ms. Softball and Mr. Baseball awards.

Finalists are senior athletes who have been nominated by college baseball and softball coaches statewide along with professional scouts as leaders in the Minnesota baseball and softball high school leagues. A banquet will take place June 20 at Target Field to honor their achievements and select an award winner for each sport.

"Awards like these are important to every facet of youth sports," said Matt Williams, executive director of the Minnesota Minute Men. "They encourage kids to work hard and follow their passions to the fullest degree. Together, we will recognize them annually along with the coaching leaders in our state."

Award finalists for Ms. Softball are Sara DuPaul of Spring Lake Park, Kristen Fah of Becker Senior High School, Samantha Holien of Forest Lake, Sara Moulton of Eagan, Megan Mullen of Hermantown and Jordan Schaffer of Hastings.
