Here are Rivertown Days events that occur and/or begin Saturday.
Fun Run to start at YMCA
The United Way of Hastings and Hastings Area YMCA will be sponsoring the Rivertown Days Fun Run Saturday, July 17.
The 8 K run starts at 8 a.m. and the 2 K walk/run starts at 9:15 a.m.
Registration forms are available online at ymca twincities.org, or unitedway ofhastings.org
The event will start and stop at the Hastings Area YMCA facility.

All proceeds from the Family Fun Run will benefit United Way and YMCA of Hastings.
Black Dirt returns
Making a second appearance at Rivertown Days is the Black Dirt Theater Co. The performers will be on stage at Levee Park beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17. A sing-along featuring live music is part of the audience participation for the day.
A live taping of "Sox News" is at noon. Another sing along will be held at 1 p.m. followed by an improv performance at 2:30 p.m. Another taping of the "Sox News" will be held at 4 p.m., followed by an improv performance at 5 p.m.
Enjoy pancakes at UMC
The United Methodist Church, 615 W. 15th St. is holding a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18.
The breakfast includes French toast, pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee.
Vermillion Falls walking tours added
Three extra times have been added to the Vermillion Falls Walking Tour, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday July 17; and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 18.
Guests will enjoy an historic walking tour of one of Hastings' most beautiful parks, just blocks from the LeDuc Historic Estate. They will learn how the Vermillion River and the milling industry shaped Hastings, while taking in the natural beauty of the river and breathtaking falls.
The Vermillion Falls Walking Tours are sponsored by the LeDuc Historic Estate and Dakota County Historical Society, and in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Tour rates are the same as at the estate or visitors may purchase a discount package for $10 (for adults) which includes a tour of both the estate and the walking tour. The tour will form at the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion St.

The First National Bank is sponsoring a flea market in its parking lot, 119 W. Second St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 18. Antiques and collectibles are the featured items.
Head to the Eagles
Euchre and washer toss tournaments are scheduled at the Eagles Club Saturday, July 17. The euchre tournament begins at 9 a.m., with the washer toss (plays like horseshoes) at 1 p.m. Entry forms available at the club.
A bake sale will also be held at the club at 9 a.m. and special food items will be served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Schoolhouse Square businesses are sponsoring "Schoolhouse Rocks," beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 17.
The events include a 3-on-3-basketball tournament, petting zoo/sidewalk art contest, spelling bee, open adult basketball tournament, potato sack race, and ice cream eating contest, coffee concert, and a live music performance by the Stalls. Prizes will be awarded for all competitions. Register in advance at the Green Mill, Schoolhouse Scoop or Premier Bank. Preregistration is required.

Shop the sales
The Downtown Business association is holding sidewalk sales from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17.
Art and crafts are available
More than 100 vendors will be selling their arts and crafts items from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Levee Park in the downtown area.
Kids play, help HFS
River of Life Church, 800 Vermillion St., will hold its annual kids' carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7. All games are 10 cents each. The carnival is for kids 10 and younger.
Proceeds go to Hastings Family Service.
Power boat races will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Timberworks Lumberjacks Show is at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m., and includes crosscut sawing, ax throwing, chainsaw carving, log rolling, hot sawing and chopping.
RC Club holds
The Rich Valley RC Club flying demonstration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Norman Field. Take Highway 61 to County Road 47. The field is about 1 and 1/2 miles south on County Road 47.
Club members will be flying various types and sizes of radio-controlled model aircraft.
The zoo comes to the park
The Minnesota Zoomobile will be presenting a program from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Jaycee Park. The show features interactions, storytelling, artifacts and live animals.
Disc dogs are back
The Minnesota Disc Dogs are back and will present a program from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Jaycee Park. The sanctioned event is part of the Minnesota Cup.
Float your boat
The "Whatever Floats Your Boat" race will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Lake Rebecca boat launch.
Participants must build a boat or raft -- no size limit -- from materials that are at least 50 percent recycled or recyclable, then race it against other boats and/or rafts of similar materials to win cash prizes.
The first place team wins $200 cash. Second place receives $100 and third place receives $50.
There will also be $100 cash presented to the team with the boat that is voted most creative and $100 cash to the team that has the best used of recycled materials.
More music scheduled
Outdoor music will be featured from 8 p.m. to midnight at Dugarel's.
Nick Fox will sing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Busted Nut.
"Kick the Dog" is in concert at 9:30 p.m. at the Coliseum.
Fireworks along the river
A fireworks display is planned for 10 p.m. over the river at Jaycee Park.
